Yesterday, we had a delightful family outing at the Pumpkin Patch! Watching our children have fun is one of our greatest joys. Taking them to see new things, learn, and enjoy life is such a thrill! Life's road isn't easy, but the beautiful moments along it's path are priceless. Even the smallest of miracles like a smile on Sevilla's face or the mischievous twinkle in Vienna's eyes, the cooing noises of our baby who doesn't yet know how to talk, or the ramblings of our toddler who is daily learning new words.

Parenthood is full of ups and downs, feeling inadequate, daily being on your knees begging God for wisdom, and trying your best. All the sacrifice, the sleep deprivation, the lifting, the diapers, the tantrums, the messes, the discipline is all so worth it in light of their little giggles, their unique personalities, their unwavering love, and their eternal souls. Wow, I am in awe at the goodness of God in entrusting our two little angel babies to us. I love them more than I can begin to describe. They are such a gift. May I cherish each moment, even in the midst of often not having it all together. Even though I am weak, God is strong and He will meet their every need.

Truth is, as a mother, it is vital to wake up with a contagious joy that overflows to my children. I am often unsuccessful at this, but my heart longs to be. I want them to witness a faith, a love, a joy that they will want to have. Yes, children must be instructed, but let us not forget that the way they learn best is by observation. Just like they pick up on the things we'd rather they didn't...they also see and learn from our positive examples. I want to model for my kids what it means to be a devoted lover of Christ, a faithful loving wife, a patient and caring mother, a sacrificial servant to others in need. I have SO very far to go, but I know that life's path is one step at a time and God does not expect for us to "arrive" all in one day :) We must live out for our children what we want them to become...it's more than words we must put before them.

Well... this post is a wee-bit overdue... like over a year. This is my first foray into the blogosphere, which is a rather daunting task considering all the brilliant posts my wife has such a talent for. So, without further ado...

Since childhood, Nikkae has had a heart for missions and dreamed of a life on the field. It's one of the things that really attracted me to her when we first met. How we get there together has been a nagging question ever since. Nikkae has been able to participate in short term trips to Mexico and the Dominican Republic. In March or April of last year we attended a informational meeting at Oak Hills Church about their short term missions program. The trip to Burkina Faso immediately captured my interest because of the water well ministry. But the cost for a trip for both of us to go seemed overwhelming so I didn't give it much serious consideration. A couple months later, Nikkae suggested that I should just go so I could catch a brief glimpse of what life on the mission field was like and see if it really was something I could see bringing my family into. So we took a leap of faith, not knowing where the money would come from. God provided just enough at the very last minute. Thanks to all who helped make that trip possible because it was truly a life changing experience.

Despite being thousands a miles away from my beloved family in strange land so different from anything I have ever known, I had never felt such peace that this is the kind of place God has been calling me towards. It's now my pleasure to share with you a few pictures from this experience. It has been no easy task trying to narrow down some 1200 pictures to a mere 20 or so (Nikkae found great humor over my angst during this selection process). Enjoy.

Apparently we went during a very beautiful time of year in Burkina. We were told not to be fooled, for much of the year the land looks much more barren than this.

Mr. Barry is a tailor that been befriended by the team in Dano. We had tea with him one afternoon. A very nice and gracious man.

Every visit to a village began with after a time of socializing much like this. The approach used by the team in Burkina is very relational and this is a very important part of building those relationships.

Access to clean water, something so easily taken for granted in America, improves nearly every facet of life in Africa.

First time I heard a story of Geoffrey Richter (left) being thanked with chickens, I have to admit I snickered. But when you realize how little the Dagara have, and yet you see them with grateful and joyful hearts giving up an important food source during the "Months of Hunger"... you can begin to see how honorable a gift of chicken can be.

Raising up leaders is a vital part of the process of building a self-sustaining Christian movement. Here, James Massie (left) observes as Andy Johnson (center) trains Yombechelli (right--and I know I've butchered the spelling). The team gets so excited to hear of the church spreading from village to village without their direct influence. The challenge then is to come in behind the church and help build a solid foundation.

The service we attended on Sunday made a huge impression on me. Christianity so new and fresh, this must be the closest thing I've ever experienced to what it must have been like for the early church. With only a few books of the Bible translated into their native language, the Dagara are hungry for more.

In Dagaran culture, parents select which of their children will attend school and which ones will have to focus on day to day living.

We went to the weekly market to pick up a few items for the widows sacks. People come from miles and miles around to sell their wares.

One of the widows that received one of the sacks that contained two meters of material, soap, comb, two pairs of flip flops, a sleeping mat, pasta, tomato sauce, and the biggest hit--bullion!

The widows were so grateful and proud of their gifts. I don't know how, but somehow they figured out how to bundle it all together and balance it on their heads.

The Circus...

It was an exciting adventure that Daddy took Mommy, Sevilla and Me on last night...

It was my first time to watch the Circus and wow was it amazing! I got to ride an elephant with daddy, get my face painted, see clowns, dancers, tigers, and lots more! When all the lights got turned off, lots of people started waving glow sticks that looked really neat, and the guy who did the bike flips and the ladies who swung way up high on yards of fabric were incredible. I also got to eat popcorn, and dance around to the music :)

I had so much fun! I wanted to ride the ponies too but mommy and daddy said that I could go to Grandma and Grandpa's house to do that for free ;) I wasn't so sure about the face painting part at first, but I finally agreed to it when daddy let me sit on his lap. When I got home last night, I looked in the mirror and got a little startled at what I saw, it kind of scared me! haha.

It was very loud...baby Sevilla didn't like all the noise but mommy covered her ears and she finally fell asleep. I'm not sure how she was able to go to sleep with all the flashing lights and loud sounds but she did...that's what babies do I guess.

What a fun night...I hope we get to do it again next year :)

Sevilla Marie...her birth story

On July 22nd, 2011 at 12:04 a.m. God changed our lives forever by blessing our little family with a healthy baby girl. Born at 8.5 pounds and 20 1/2 inches long, our little miracle, Sevilla Marie instantly made my heart expand in special way. This is the story of how she came into the world, and how God once again showed Himself strong to our little family...

Sevilla's due date was on the calendar for July 18th. I made the mistake of thinking she might just come meet us early...After all, I was carrying very low...so very very low, and I had started some contractions a week and half before her due date. On and off they would come each night...some small, some quite uncomfortable. I tried to be patient but let me tell you, when you are having contractions, dilating and then end up going past your due date, this is very difficult to achieve ;) Every morning, Vince and I would glance at each other and joke that I was "still here"...

As the due date came and went, those "jokes" became emotional floodgate starters...I did my morning ritual of crying before rising...I felt miserable, I was dilated to 4 cm and I had lost my mucus plug. Again, another day came and went...and another...

Thursday morning (July 21), I woke up an emotional wreck. "Yes Lord, I do trust You, but this is hard. I can barely walk more than a few steps without pain and I really want to be brave about the birth but the longer this goes, I get fearful of the labor because I have more time to think about it. Thank you for being patient with my emotions, please have the baby come soon." God was not the only one having to be patient with me and my emotions...my dear sweet husband was so loving and kind throughout this difficult time.

My midwife came to check things out. My contractions were still on and off and it ended up that I hadn't dilated any more than what I was a few days earlier (of course this brought more tears). My husband, seeing I needed a change of pace and my mind on something else, whisked Vienna and me off the Starbucks and Wal-mart. It was refreshing being out, I couldn't walk much but hey, it was still great! We were loading up the car with our purchases in the Wal-mart parking lot when suddenly...my water BROKE! I was in denial, this couldn't be...I just didn't believe this was actually it!

Reality soon hit when on the way home, the contractions really kicked in hard...

Minutes later, we met the midwives at our house, the project of setting up the birth pool commenced as I stayed focused on my breathing :) I was SO excited. Truth is, I didn't mind most of labor. Sure it hurt, but until about 8 cm, it wasn't unbearable. I was able to labor in the water, which was wonderful.

However, my fear of having a similar complication as I had with Vienna ended up coming to pass. The final "lip" of my cervix was being stubborn. With Vienna, I was stuck at a 9 1/2 cm for five hours...it appeared that this was happening again and I wept. I didn't want that pain, I was too exhausted, I was disappointed. Thankfully, the Lord guided my midwives. They hooked me up to a fluid IV to hydrate my body and moments later, I began to complete the opening process. Pushing Sevilla out was extremely painful...more painful then I remember it being with Vienna. Unfortunately, I express my pain during childbirth. When it's time to push the baby out...you know how I feel about it :P Yes, I screamed, yes I begged my midwife to save me, yes I thought I would die :/ haha!

Then...
Sevilla arrived and I was relieved, overwhelmed, excited, exhausted, in love, and blessed all at once. IT'S A GIRL! I can't believe I have another princess to cherish. God is good and I am so thankful He pulled me through the dark waters of childbirth once again. Praise His name. We love you baby Sevilla Marie...you brighten our every day with your priceless sweetness :)

Illness, learning new things, and sink baths...

It's been a rough couple of days with Vienna being sick, trying to relieve her physical discomfort, help her get hydrated, learning how to deal with illness in a more natural way. She's been running a fever and also has a cold. I am totally fascinated at the harmless natural substances that help the body fight infection and build the immune system. I am not opposed to medicinal drugs by any means but I prefer, when possible, to treat things at home with harmless remedies that have no side affects. Learning this stuff is both overwhelming and fun. I feel like my progress is slow but each step is encouraging.

The following pictures aren't of the past couple days but were taken last week. No, Vienna doesn't usually take her baths in the sink but one night she had a sore bottom from a dirty diaper so she got to soak it in the sink and play with mommy :) My little princess is quite the handful, joy and delight all in one package :P

A Post...FINALLY!!

Well, it's been awhile...I've actually missed blogging but have felt overwhelmed by the fact that I have a lot to catch up on, and so ended up letting months slip by. I am also a bit frustrated to not have a picture editing program on the computer we are currently using (not that I'm a pro at such art work but I do like to get rid of red eye and crop my photos a bit). Oh well, I have decided to make due with what I have a get a post up. I have opted to not write a long "catch up" post on all that has gone on since my last one, but rather just start fresh today and maybe think about posting past due pics sometime...maybe...

Today was lovely. The weather was in the 70's, sunny, breezy, pretty perfect in every way. Sundays are one of my favorite days of the week...Vienna and I get Vince home all day and we enjoy every chance to hang out with him. Lately he has been working many hours and I just love the "down"days where we can have family time. I love watching Vince take care of Vienna in church, I love to watch her clapping during the singing time in service, I love to watch her give her daddy hugs and fight for his attention every minute. I love every bit about the family the Lord has blessed me with, I love it that we can freely worship the Lord together at a Church that is so God centered, I just love Sundays...

Little baby #2 is growing healthily...24 weeks along now and feeling lots of movement. I am totally amazed at feeling a living, breathing being inside of me. Wow! Again I wonder how I am so blessed.

Today Vienna turned 17 months. Not quite sure where the time goes but I'm loving watching her grow up, learn new things everyday, interact with us more, say new words, learn motions to songs, and adore her daddy. Today we took some pictures of her outside on the Church lawn...I think you will see how much she's grown since the last pictures I posted, such a big girl, such a delight to her daddy and me :)

That's all for now, I just felt like getting back into the swing of things on this blog and writing about the gratefulness that is brimming over in my heart tonight :)

A Bit of News...

A couple pieces of news for my poor readers who keep checking our blog and wondering where we've gone and what Vienna looks like now, what we've been up to and why I've neglected you...

Our computer has broken down! I am currently on my parent's computer writing this which means, I don't have pictures to post and this blog may be "neglected" for just a bit longer until we can get a new computer and transfer all our pictures.

Next bit of news is WAY more exciting and many of you may already know...
WE ARE HAVING ANOTHER BABY! Yes, Vienna is going to be a big sister and we are going to be parents once again :) Our hearts are filled with joy and gratefulness for our new blessing, at the same time we are overwhelmed with the great responsibility before us and pray for wisdom to raise this new child. After the miscarriage of our last baby, we don't take any day of pregnancy for granted and are praying that the Lord would allow us to meet this child and enjoy life with him/her. Many are asking if we will find out the gender before his/her birth...the answer is, No. We love the surprise of finding out on the exciting day of birth :) We do have ultrasounds throughout pregnancy however and have already seen our baby...the little heart beat fluttering is truly amazing!

This past weekend, mommy and I enjoyed a special treat that we don't usually get...a whole Saturday with my daddy! We went crib shopping, daddy got a haircut, we ate a picnic lunch in the van and then headed to 6 flags!
There were tons of people there and I couldn't get enough of all the sights and sounds...I loved every minute! Daddy and mommy took me on all sorts of rides (my favorite was the wiggles cars).
The rule for being able to ride most of the kids rides is that you have to be able to walk...I've been working really hard on my balance and am doing quite well! I showed off my new skill a lot that day so the ride keepers would let me through the gates :) I think everyone was impressed that I could act like a big girl even though I'm so small. Well, they say a picture is worth a thousand words so I will stop rambling (like my mommy always does) and let you see our adventures for yourself... ~Vienna ~

Priceless Moments...

If you're a mother, you know that if your child crawls into the kitchen and then proceeds to be quiet as a mouse for more than 5 minutes...he/she is definitely into some sort of mischief. Vienna wasn't choking, and I could see the top of her head, so I let her do whatever it was she was doing for a while before going to "rain on her parade". When I did get up to go see what had her so occupied in silence, I discovered a messy little girl, apple sauce smeared on the floor, her clothes and her face. She had found the little containers of apple sauce in a grocery bag, poked her little finger through the foil and helped her self to some yummy goodness! It was too cute, I had no desire to stop her...after all, the mess was already made and she was having a good time eating exactly what mommy had bought for her anyway...

Our puppy has a name! ~Reeses~

Watching these 2 babies rough house together and play is so cute. Vienna is always crawling over to the "puppy bucket" to "talk" to and pet Reeses. They both love being outside, the fresh air, freedom to roam and get dirty. At times, it can be a handful having a little toddler and a puppy but seeing the joy on Vienna's face as she plays with her "buddy" is worth it all...

Our Little Bundle of Joy...

Oh the joy that our little girl brings to our lives! Some days have me in tears because of the feeling of inadequacy but always am I in awe at the twinkle in her eye, her sweet giggles, her hugs and the joy she brings to our family. May we as her parents always channel God's unconditional love to her...now, when she's a young girl and when she becomes a woman. Raising her to seek the Lord, be confident in what He has for her life and help her to run after it with all her might.

Helping Mommy unpack...loved it when she climbed into the basket and rocked it back and forth like she was in a boat.
One of her favorite "toys" is a toothbrush. Good chew toy...and easily fits in the diaper bag so it ends up coming with us everywhere. LOL.

Playing in the rain is so much fun! Allowed to make a mess, get dirty and soaked...total bliss!

After getting all muddy and cold, a nice warm bath was in order. My little splashing fishy just loves water...

Just felt like sharing a few moments of what goes on during the day in our home. Lots teaching, training, loving, fun and mischief! Vienna definitely keeps us on our toes...never a dull moment around here!

While Vince was away across the world in Africa, my grandparents flew Vienna and me up to Illinois for a visit. It was not only a refreshing change of pace, but a time of great memory making. So glad we were able to get away and enjoy our family and friends :)

It was great being able to spend time with both sides of the family. Thank you Uncle John and Aunt Barb for having a gathering at your house and Grandpa and Grandma Fiordelisi for hosting one at your house as well. Both evenings were delightful and I loved getting to see everyone.

Though the time was short, we were thrilled to see some friends. Thanks for having us over Mrs. Carlson! Thank you Megan and Anna for going out with me a couple times and for the endless laughs...in spite of our creepy restaurant experiences. LOL.

The day before we headed back home, we had some fun in the sun with my Grandma's at the Apple Orchard! Vienna loved the animals, crawling on the play train and most of all, riding a pony :)

Our New Puppy

I've never been much of an animal person, but lately, seeing my daughter with dogs has melted my heart. She seems to adore them, imitates their barks, and giggles when she's around them or sees a picture of one. She has certainly inherited her daddy's heart for animals so her mommy has decided to jump on the "band wagon" and came up with the questionably "brilliant plan" to get a puppy. Yes, my sanity is in question right now as I juggle a soon to be toddler and a tiny puppy who has no clue that the floor is not the place to pee. This may be a long road of juggling two babies but hey, Vienna is in love and I think it will be precious to see her and our "yet to be named" puppy grow up together. I have seriously considered putting diapers on this puppy...why not? It works for Vienna! Haha.

Home Again!

After eleven days without our favorite guy, Vienna and I picked up Vince at the airport at 11:00 last night! I was so excited, I couldn't stop smiling...actually, I'm still smiling even though I'm bummed that he's already back at work :( We talked for hours about everything that's happened to us both during the past 2 weeks and looked at lots of pictures. It's so good to have him back!!!

Faces I Love...

My sister Katherine just got back from Germany and brought Vienna some precious little gifts...one of which is the most adorable dark pink dress! I've been having fun "playing dolls" dressing her up in her new outfits from her Auntie.

Every night when Vince comes home, it's daddy/daughter time! I love to hear Vienna giggle as he chases her down the hall, sings with her and gives her bouncy rides on his knee. I always tell Vince that she has him wrapped around her little finger...he doesn't deny it :P

Vienna is my little musician! She walks up and down alongside the piano listening to herself play the different low and high sounds on the keys. She not only loves to listen to music but often dances to it as well :)

Family Visit

At the end of July, we had a delightful visit from Vince's parents and grandparents! Between sight seeing downtown, late night games, great conversation and adoring every move Vienna made, it was a great time together! Wishing we didn't live so far away but cherishing the time we have together. Thank you for coming down to see us! Please come again soon :)

There's something so precious about seeing generations of a family together...life goes too fast but how blessed and full each of our lives are. What a treasure to hear stories from when our parents and grandparents were our age, talking about holding their babies who are now grown and having their own. God is so good...

On the weekend we were able to go down to Floresville and visit with my side of the family. It's always a precious thing to see two families get to know each other and become more of a unit as they are joined because of marriage. We are thankful for the heritage we have and for the people that Vienna can grow up learning from.

Bath time is always a fun, splashing mess of a party in this house! Vienna's Grandma got enjoy the adventure of seeing just how wild Vienna can get in the water! Fun, fun!

When the busy week was all said and done, our little cuddle bug was pretty tired...but we didn't mind, feeling her tiny head laying down on your chest is one of the best things in the world! Her Grandpa loves the "job" of putting his little girl to sleep :)

Birthday Memories...

It's hard to believe I just turned 26 years old! But it doesn't seem all that bad...26 sounds like a good age and I'm excited to see what God has for us in the coming year :)

Vince had to work for the afternoon but it was enjoyable having him around all morning. When he got home, he took Vienna and me out for dinner and an evening of walking on the River Walk. I enjoyed talking with him, watching all the people walk by, and drinking in the fresh air. Earlier in the day, he had already given me a couple awesome gifts so I was in no way expecting what was about to take place...

After dinner, we were making our way back to the car when he "steered" us on a detour. I just figured he wasn't ready to head back yet...the loveliness of the River Walk sort of has that affect on you. Suddenly, I noticed he was taking us to "Marriage Island" or what I call, "Love Island". It's a little patch of land on the River Walk where over 300 weddings take place every year (it's said to be "good luck" to get married there)...for me, it's a great place for kissing and gazing into each others eyes and being held by my man :)

We sat and talked as Vienna played at our feet. We watched the boats go by as the night crept on and the water glistened beneath the twinkling lights all around. It was magical, relaxing, refreshing and romantic. All of the sudden, Vince reached into his pocket and pulled out a little box...at this point I was stunned, the night was already so amazing and I was totally not expecting anymore gifts...what in the world could it be?! Eagerly opening the box, I found a beautiful heart shaped key necklace...a gift he'd searched high and low for...something that represented what he wrote in my birthday card earlier that day, "Thanks for being mine...for giving me the key to the pearl inside your heart".

It was late and we had a sleepy girl...so she didn't want to have pictures taken :P

Wow! I felt like a princess. Vince knows I'm an utterly hopeless romantic and he wanted my birthday to be special. He thought of and planned something that would bring a smile to my face and make me giddy for days afterward. He knows that I love being "courted" even though he's got me for his own and he made the effort to do something that would make me feel loved and cherished. I feel so blessed, not just to have a pretty gift, but that my husband studies me and desires to love me in ways I understand. God has indeed given me the heart of a precious man.

Oh the fun you can have when there's a whole bunch of noisy, active kids, teens and adults! Swimming, games, tackling a certain someone :P, chatting about the week, cuddling world's cutest baby, eating delicious food and just enjoying the day with the ones you love. Time down at my family's house in Floresville is always fun and there's never a dull moment! My parent's hospitality still blows me away even though I've seen it in action for 26 years now! Their constant willingness to fill their home with guests of all kinds, is so incredible. No crowd is ever too big at the Huber home...my Mom's own words say it best, "the more the merrier!"

Special thanks must be said to Kristalyn and Mom for all their hard work in the kitchen feeding us all and to Jonathan, Brenton and Benjamin for their effort on the animal chores...you guys make it possible for us to enjoy fresh milk, eggs, etc. Can't forget to thank the kitchen clean up man...Dad, you're amazing! You get stuck with the least fun chore and you do it so willingly :)

2 Years as best friends...

I'm so behind on posting our happenings of late...where does the time go? Goodness! I feel like I just blink and days pass. One very important "anniversary" for us, was last weekend. July 24, 2008 I met the man that 6 months later, would marry me! He has been my anchor, my kindred spirit, my lover and my best friend. No greater love could I have ever imagined.

After corresponding and talking on the phone, we met on a hot summer day at the airport in San Antonio. Eager anticipation was making my heart race as I waited to meet the man who had become such a wonderful friend...
The day we met was like magic. For some strange reason, I knew that the guy standing before me would be the one I would fully give my heart to and share life with. Every day since, has been a learning and growing experience. We have had to mature, to learn about each other more fully, and to work together as a team. Though at times, life's trials beat us up and cast us down, God grace and strength remain and His blessings fill our cup to overflowing. Now, two years later we are married and have a beautiful daughter. Our story may sound strange, it is unusual, it may be shocking, but it is truly amazing how the Lord bound our hearts together. My first kiss belonged to Vince...I had saved it for him and it was sweeter than anything I have ever known.

Last Saturday night I surprised Vince with a date night out to all our "old places". First stop was the airport where we first laid eyes on each other. Secondly, a picnic dinner (which ended up being enjoyed in our van due to the bugs who wanted to feast on our flesh). And lastly, we went out for dessert where we had our first "date" (even sat at the exact table) and read our old love letters to each other. My how time flies...two years can bring all sorts of life changes!

Marriage, though fun and joyous, is full of hard work and selflessness. Vince has modeled to me what it truly means to live for another person. I am learning so much of what true love is from him...and it is beautiful! So thankful to God for loving me more than I deserve and for giving me the heart of a man who is my earthly channel of that love.

The "Magic" of Ordinary Days...

This morning held all sorts of distractions for me as I tried to get some paper work finished...

Vienna has:

Fussed a lot because she wanted to be cuddled constantly
Bumped her head...too many times to count
Bumped her mouth on the coffee table
Fallen over
Crumpled up my grocery list pad
Tried to eat a receipt
Spit up on the floor and played in the puddle
Drooled all over my cell phone
Tried to rip a book
Did some mischief in my day planner
Constantly tried to touch daddy's laptop (which currently is our item in use for training her the word "no")
Grabbing for everything in sight, including clean laundry folded neatly on the couch

LOL...I LOVE being her mommy! The adventure never ends...she's constantly busy, constantly a joy and constantly a hand full! As I watched her, I was reminded to enjoy life. Everyday, no matter what it holds, is a miracle. I think we all ought to remember to look at life like a curious child. Always seeing little adventures, "magic", and fun in even the most common of things we do. Life is exciting, with all it's ups and downs, all it's unknowns, twists and turns. Vienna loves water...whether it's splashing in the bathtub or getting soaked in the pool. She will swish around and play for the longest time...she's fearless and feisty!

She is very curious about bubbles. She tries to eat them but can't quite figure them out. She dips her face into them and comes up with a Santa beard! She's our little fishy...

Last night we went to a lovely birthday party and Vienna got to enjoy some pool time. She smiles when given attention and had plenty of it with all the people passing her around for the evening. Thank you Eichman family for the invite and Happy Birthday Miss Cathryn! We love you :)

A Few Happenings of Late...

Last weekend we hosted a "game night" at our apartment. Oh the endless fun you can have with great people, food, games, and sweet babies!

Our friend Cathryn, just returned from a mission trip to the Ukraine. She stopped by the other day with a gift she found at the market during her trip...an adorable pink hat for Vienna. I am now wanting to learn how to make these little things! Thanks Cathryn for adorning or princess with such an adorable accessory!

On Wednesday, Vince got to be home with us for most of the day. After lots of long working hours lately, Vienna and I were so happy to have some fun with our favorite guy. Building blocks for Vienna to knock down is always a highlight.

Our little miss can now say "momma" and is pulling herself up to standing position on everything! She also makes her way around our coffee table quite well. Wow, she's growing so fast! It seems like in the blink of an eye she learns something new and exciting. Thanking the Lord for her sweet life, and for the utter joy she is to us each day.

July 4th Fun!

I'm a bit behind on a post or two but I figure I should go ahead and write about our 4th of July first...

Vienna was pretty tired yesterday morning and so staying through an entire church service just wasn't working. I'm sure all you moms and dads out there know just what I'm talking about. Somehow she caught just enough sleep in the car on the way to church that then prevented her from easily falling back asleep once we arrived. Very curious for the first part of the service with all the instruments, singing and people, she lasted through about half and then we decided that it would be best to head home. Our church dedicated the 4th of July Sunday to an entire worship service filled with songs of praise to the Lord and prayers for our nation.

After lunch, we tried to take a nap but Vienna didn't sleep very long. It was still good to get a little rest and cuddle time in with my man :)

In the evening we got an invite to my parent's house for dinner, fireworks and games. Vienna enjoyed watching the fireworks that were being shot off from afar in a near by park but when it came down to doing our own in the front yard, she got scared to death! Poor baby. All the loud noise and sparks...she didn't know what was going on. Maybe next year she will enjoy the wild show more.

After the fireworks we enjoy the most delicious homemade ice cream and brownies! Wow, what yummy goodness...the coconut ice cream was my favorite!

A few rounds of Catch Phrase and a round of Family Feud, finished off our fun evening. We got home at about 2 a.m. and were pretty dead tired. Poor Vince had to get up early and head out for a long day at work today. "His girls" here at home are missing him but praying that the Lord would bless the work of his hands with many sales on this busy day.

We are so thankful to live in the land of the free as we reflect on the places around the world that cannot boast of such freedom. May we never take for granted the blessing it is to live in America and the fruitful lives we lead here.

Graduation Party...

Saturday night we attended the graduation party of a friend, Max Clark. We enjoyed a delightful evening of fun, fellowship, food and dancing. What a joy it was to hear a young man thank the Lord and others for the influence they had on his life. A high school graduation is a monumental event for a young person as they close one chapter in their life and look to the Lord for the next one...growing up, taking steps forward. I'm so grateful for the young people who faithfully seek the Lord for their future. I am excited to see what is in store for those that use their lives to further God's kingdom.

Vince was unable to make it until late in the evening due to work, so I was constantly feeling like a part of me was missing. Once he arrived, the evening suddenly got better! Vienna handled all of the being passed around from person to person very well in spite of being a sleepy girl. Praise the Lord for the many gifts He has given us...for health, family, friends and fun. We feel so blessed to be a part of HIS family.

Unfortunately, I didn't think to get the camera out until late in the evening so we don't have many pictures of the event. The ones we did get, turned out pretty cute though :)

6 Flags, Fiesta Texas!

A few weeks ago, we were able to purchase Fiesta Texas season passes through someone at our Sunday school class, for about a third of their regular price! So yesterday on his day off, Vince took "his girls" to have some fun! It was pretty hot, I got quite the burn on my back and shoulders but we kept Vienna rubbed down with sun screen so she doesn't seem any worse for the wear today.

When we first arrived, we went on a hunt to see if there were any rides that Vienna could go on. After searching high and low, we discovered that everything seemed to require that a child be able to walk at least 3 steps. Haha! Why 3 steps? Who knows. There was only ONE ride that allowed infants...the Merry-Go-Round! Vienna was so curious about the music it played, the movement, the kids squealing. She was so busy taking it all in, that I don't think she showed her excitement until it was time to get off...then if she could talk, I think she'd have said "AGAIN PLEASE!".

The fast rides, the people, the screams, Vienna was so curious about it all. She'd watch the roller coasters go up and down and all around. People watching seems to be hers and my favorite thing to do :) So many different kinds of people, different sorts of families, but all seeming pretty happy about their day of fun in the sun.
Vince and I took turns riding on rides for the most part and then Anthony and Astrud met up with us to watch Vienna so we could ride together a few times. I love hanging out with my best friend...he makes every thing fun. He was so patient when I started freaking out about riding this or that roller coaster and helped me rise above my fear and not let it get the best of me. The last time I was at 6 Flags, I was 12 years old...wasn't afraid of much...something has come over me since then. Haha.

Being gone all day meant no naps for baby girl. She did manage to sleep for a few minutes in daddy's arms. She was such a trouper all day. Not only did she miss out on some sleep but she's also getting 2 more teeth in! Still, she managed to be a happy camper all day! What a sweet baby :)

Cooling down in the water park was Vienna's favorite part of the day. She is so in love with water! We love to watch her splash, and giggle in the waves. She seems fearless in swimming pools. She was able to crawl around in the shallow part but we had to keep a close eye on her, for she kept insisting on going farther and farther in...not realizing it was too deep for her. Finally, at the close of our day, Daddy took us on the tubes that floated down the "river". It was so relaxing, peaceful, and refreshing. At one point, Vince and Vienna's tube went through a little waterfall...at first it frightened Vienna but she quickly toughened up and didn't even cry. Wow, what a brave girl we have :)

By the time we got home, we were sun beaten and tired. What a day! After showers, dinner and a movie, we dragged ourselves off to bed. I think all 3 of us got a great night of sleep!

A father's love... It is so admired by others, so sought after by sons, so craved by daughters, so needed, and so cherished. "Making daddy proud" is often the desire that pulses through our beings as we grow up and tends to stay with us even in adulthood. A father has a great influence on his children, how they view life, others and themselves. Much of what stays with us was passed down through the words and actions of our fathers. I am blessed to not only have a wonderful father and father-in-law but an incredible daddy for my daughter. I pray for wisdom for these men in my life as they raise children, help teach grandchildren and follow God's call for them. Their testimony is priceless to our family as we watch them serve God and put others before themselves. I love you guys!

Our Zoo Adventures...

It was a hot, sunny day as we excitedly loaded up our van and headed to the zoo to introduce Vienna to wildlife...yes, her daddy is determined that she will have wildlife appreciation. We were supposed to meet up with my mom, brothers and sisters but it proved to be much more of a challenge than we expected. After searching high and low for about 30 minutes, the "lost" crew was found! Vienna instantly became the #1 attraction leading us all to wonder why we had chosen the zoo for a meeting place if all the kids wanted to see was their niece. LOL.

Vince gave Vienna a little tour...she seemed pretty interested in the large fish tank that was also the home for a hippo, but when it came time to get her interested in a tiger, we realized that she was much more entertained by the kids running and playing all around! Ah well, when she gets bigger daddy, she will love the animals just like you :)

Did I mention it was hot? Oh my goodness...that Texas sun just zaps the life out of you! After a couple hours, I was ready for a large pool, an unlimited supply of water bottles and a change of clothes! LOL. Brenton, Benjamin, Christian and Justin got to come home with us while the girls went to a harp lesson and shopping. We had some pizza and played a game and our fun day ended all too soon. I think we were all ready for bed once the sun went down though :)

The Alamo!

A last minute call from Kristalyn yesterday, had us heading down to the Alamo for some family time with a few of my siblings and my Great Uncle Jim (in town from IL). It was pretty hot, but we had a blast walking the grounds of the Alamo and exploring around the River Walk. We always cherish time with those we love. God has truly blessed us with the most awesome brothers and sisters in the world!

P.S. I somehow didn't get a picture of my Great Uncle! Argh! Don't know how that happened! Anyways, he's such a sweetie, and though the time was short, we enjoyed every minute.

A Day to Remember...

Yesterday, both Vince and I had off work for the ENTIRE day! This doesn't happen often (except for Sundays and those can be quite busy) so we wanted to make the most of it and head out for some adventure and fun :)

Place of choice: Enchanted Rock in Fredricksburg. I climbed the rock several years ago but Vince had never been. We hadn't yet done an outdoor activity like this together and were excited to enjoy God's creation for an afternoon.

With Vienna in a pack on Vince's back, we started to climb. I didn't remember having any trouble the first time, years ago, but the combination of heat and climbing in the middle of the afternoon had me feeling nauseated...a common feeling for me during pregnancy :) With a patient Hubby waiting for me as I often took rests, we finally made it to the top...what a beautiful sight!

Vienna loved it! She "talked" and giggled the whole way up...mostly due to playing with the back of daddy's hair. haha. Once at the top, we found a cave and rested in it's cool shelter. Upon heading back down, Vienna fell fast asleep, in spite of bouncing up and down with each of her daddy's steps.

It was a long day for our baby girl!

The day will not soon be forgotten. Such sweet memories will ever be held dear. Being with the ones I love most, sharing the beauty of God's creation, talking, laughing, enjoying my best friends. We needed that day away...a chance to let go of the endless "to do lists", the pressure that often comes with life, the rush of every day. Remember to slow down and drink in the moments with the ones God has given you. Time is so short...too short not too!

Catching you up...

My goodness, time just gets away from me! I just realized that I really need to do a new post on here. Sorry to any readers out there who have searched this blog in vain for new pictures in the past couple weeks.

A late Mother's Day update...Vienna gave me a card, pink roses & breakfast in bed. I'm amazed at how much she can make a day special at such a young age. Haha. Her loving father has made the past two Mother's Days a total treat for me. He daily makes me feel like a princess but it's fun to get extra spoiled sometimes too :) Thanks Honey, you're amazing!

Today we will also talk about some of Vienna's "firsts".

~ She has learned how to whistle...no joke, all on her own. It's absolutely adorable!

~ She went swimming with Daddy at the apartment pool and loved it once getting over the shock of the cool water temperature.

~ She is getting pretty good at listening when we tell her "no"...has been nice not to focus so much and "child proofing" our house but more on "house proofing" our child. Still have a long way to go...but we've got to start somewhere.

~ She had her first walker experience in the parking lot. Absolutely loved it!

~ Is starting to make it known if she wants to come to you or not by either diving towards you or turning the other way! haha. Daddy and I are having fun with this one. Let the competition begin..."Do you want Daddy or Mommy?" haha.

Vienna has also been more into cuddling of late which makes us all happy around here. Yesterday, Uncle Anthony put her to sleep, Daddy and Mommy love the chance to do that too...it's just so precious.

As far as other happenings outside of "Vienna news"...
My pregnancy is going well so far. I'm 6 1/2 weeks right now. Some morning sickness, but not bad at all. Very, very tired all the time. Guess that just comes with the territory.

I'm still teaching music in the evenings, Vince's job has him pretty busy too...which makes me need to focus on being grateful instead of complaining about extra hours sometimes :) I'm learning...growing up isn't easy. haha.

A New Baby on the Way & a Trip to Michigan...

Our exciting news...Last week, we found out that the Lord has blessed us with another precious baby! It's hard to believe we have another sweetie on the way, and are anxious to see what the Lord has in store for our family in our second born child. What a privilege to be a mommy once again!

Recently, Vienna and I returned from a delightful visit with Vince's family up in Michigan. The weather was lovely, the landscape beautifully green and the time with family, refreshing. We relaxed, went shopping, visited with some extended family, took lots of pictures, got to know each other even better, and watched Vienna's every move, discovery and facial expression.

The flight there was for the most part, uneventful and Vienna did very well. However, on the way home, it was far from boring...but I think in this case, boring would have been the way to go! :)

Getting through security was a breeze and I thought I had everything under control. I took Vienna into the bathroom to change and feed her and thought that the smart order in which to accomplish the above would be to feed her first before changing her. Apparently her diaper was too soaked to hold anymore and while I sat and nursed her, she wet out the side, all over herself AND ME!!! If you've never had a baby wet down your leg and soak your pants at an airport, you're really missing out. I immediately told myself that it was "no big deal" so that I wouldn't start to panic. After all, our plane was leaving in 30 minutes and we were both a mess! Scrubbing out clothes with hand soap and paper towels isn't the easiest thing to do in the world but we boarded the plane on time and smelled decent enough that no one seemed to notice what had just happened.

Vienna was tired from a long weekend and a busy day...she was very fussy and sort of delirious on the flight home...waking up every 20 minutes or so to look at me with her big blue eyes that seemed to say, "mommy, please get me home soon!" After many tears from baby and a sore back for mommy, we made it home to daddy's loving arms and sweet kisses.

Lessons in Love

I'm sitting here thinking about the endless "to do" list that needs to be accomplished before heading off to teach tonight. All of the loose ends I'd like to have tied up before leaving for Michigan with Vienna tomorrow. In the midst of all the hustle and bustle of preparation, grocery shopping, cleaning up around the house, taking care of baby, making sure my hubby gets fed, I am reminded of God's love. I know, kind of random huh? The thing is, God has so graciously given me a man in my life that mirror's His love to me so I am daily struck with a glimpse of my God's love as it flows through my husband and on to me. It's a precious love, one that strikes me as not of this world...one that I could have only dreamed of but now, the fairytale is my life. Don't get me wrong, there are rough days, misunderstandings, things don't always go as planned, I cry, we fail...but that's just life.

The beauty of a sacrificial love...a love that can only come from God, fills our home. Each morning, instead of waking up and feeling the stale feeling of it just being the same as the day before, I have a fresh love for the man laying beside me. It doesn't matter what I say or do wrong, it doesn't matter how grumpy I get...Vince constantly shows me what it means to love no matter what, to be patient, to be humble, to ask forgiveness, to be the first to give up his own desires that he might make me feel more loved. Isn't that the way our Lord desires us to all be to each other? Too often, I fear that our love and kindness to each other as Christians is lost in an attempt to prove what is right. We often get caught up trying to see justice done, or wrong righted...but when the spirit of God's love is lost, it is all for naught. In 1 Corinthians 13 it says how you can do many good things but if you have not love, it is pointless.

Let's show the love of Christ today in what we say and do...to ALL those around us...even when they are undeserving.

6 Month B'day Fun!

Our little princess turned 6 months old today (April 27th)! I know time is going so fast, but in some ways, the day of her birth seems like ages ago. So much has happened since then, a new season of life has begun for us. Watching Vienna learn is one of our greatest joys in life. She continually surprises us with how smart she is and how independent she can be. Today was monumental in more ways than one...not only is she half a year old but she also received her first toothbrush and her first baby doll. She definitely preferred the toothbrush over the doll...didn't notice the baby as she chewed her toothbrush with vigor. LOL.

Our Weekend

Busy weekend...spending time with my brothers and some friends. Went to a missions meeting on Sunday morning before Church and enjoyed learning about what the Lord is doing in Africa. It was exciting to see a video of so many being baptized and following Christ. Still praying about what the Lord has for our lives, knowing it's going to be exciting.

Vienna's new feat is steering her walker all over the place. Vince enjoys putting her in a corner and seeing if she can get turned around and make her way down the hall. Sunday night we got home late and I was on the phone so Vince carried Vienna inside and sat her in the walker before returning to get a load from car. When he got back to the door he discovered that Vienna had made her way down the hallway, was blocking the front door and crying her little heart out because daddy had "left her"! His heart melted as he scooped his little princess up into his arms and held her close until her tears subsided. Daddy/daughter moments are one of the most precious things ever! I am in awe at the goodness of God.

Sleeping Beauty

Not sure if our little miss is teething or what, but lately she seems to be a wee bit more cranky than usual. Can't blame her for wanting to be held though, I love being held too :) She's been squealing with delight while kicking her legs and swinging her arms when daddy walks through the door and fusses if mommy leaves the room. Many of her smiles include the showing of her little bottom teeth...melts mommy's heart every single time!

Earlier today, Vienna and I were out and about when it began to rain. She dropped her toy and stared out the car window in amazement. When I walked her into the house, she had a very confused look on her face that seemed to say, "where is this water coming from?". One of those itty bitty priceless moments that swells a mother's heart. I just love teaching her the "simple things" of life.

Just bought our first watermelon of the year at Costco. It's a bit early in the season but surprisingly, it's delicious :)

We've been enjoying our new Sunday school class immensely...meeting some really sweet couples and learning some great truths from the book, "Sacred Marriage" by Gary Thomas. It was a slow start but now I marvel at how each week the lessons seem to be directed right at me...exactly what I need, when I need it!

What a gorgeous day...A gentle breeze, brilliantly gleaming sunshine, the feeling of spring is in the air! Vienna and I just had to go surprise daddy with a picnic lunch across the street from where he works. The hour flew by too quickly but we enjoyed chatting away the time and watching Vienna play. She managed to open a granola bar wrapper! Thought it would be a "safe" toy...but I forget how smart she is! LOL.

So, the house is a mess...I'm also sorting through all of Vienna's clothes, packing up what's too small and pulling out the next size. She's growing like a weed...at 5 months, she's in 6-9 month clothes. She's very long! Watching her suck her thumb is still my favorite thing that she does...right next in line is her sucking her toes! lol.

Daddy loves his princess and spends as much time as he can with her. I adore watching tender moments of her resting on his chest or when he makes her giggle...time is short, I try to soak in the moments, for all too soon, my baby girl will be grown & gone.

Spend some extra time with the ones you love today...time is short, drink in the memories, give them extra hugs, tell them you care...I think it makes our Lord smile :)

Fun with Daddy...

This past weekend was crazily busy! Spurs game on Friday night, running errands all day Saturday while Vince worked and then headed out for a fund raiser event in the evening. Sunday was not a day of rest for us but it was full of encouragement! Our couples Sunday school class, Church, home for lunch, back out the door for an afternoon of me teaching piano lessons and Vince tutoring in Math...we had to wait till today for relaxing time together...totally worth the wait!

Just got back from a long walk to the Verizon store to get Vince's new phone activated. Then he asked me out on a date for sandwiches and root beer floats! We had so much fun doing "simple" things today :) Can't believe I live with my best friend! Vienna did pretty well waiting for daddy to get his phone working, but about had it when she had to sit and watch us eat food and drink floats in front of her! She seemed to be content with getting sips from a water bottle...evidently doesn't know the difference between ice cream & water yet...this is a good thing :)

Learning life's lessons...

So I was feeling pretty upbeat about the day and totally inspired to start blogging again. No sooner do I put up a post yesterday full of positive thinking about our wonderful life...

Baby begins having a screaming fit! I pick her up, she doesn't stop

I try to nurse her...doesn't work either for a while. When she finally latched on, she bites down really hard, TWICE...OUCH! I yell out in pain, she screams louder

my tailbone shifts or something to a spot I really don't think it should be in cuz my pain increased. (I've had pain in my tailbone area since Vienna's birth which btw, I'm finally going to have x-rays today!)

My "perfect little world" on the blog, crashed within seconds of me posting...literally! I began to get discouraged and then suddenly I smiled...My blog readers will think everything is perfect and there I sat, in pain, cradling a screaming child, dishes piled up and not enough time in a day to do the list of projects I had planned to accomplish! lol.

The truth is, I LOVE my life...I truly do...I feel so blessed to have a baby that CAN scream...so many are too weak to cry in this world. So many mother's can't have children, so many have lost a child.

I CAN nurse my baby...so many woman don't have enough nutrition in their bodies to feed a child...so many are dying themselves.

I CAN sit down...so many have no cushion between their bones and the skin that covers them...they live in so much pain, they can't even feel anymore. I may be in tears when I rise after sitting...they don't even have enough bodily fluids to cry anymore...that is their life...misery...no hope.

Why do I even have the audacity to complain? I'm so spoiled! So sheltered from the outside world full of hurt and pain. I LOVE MY LIFE...and I am so grateful. Such a good reminder. It took pain, a crying child, a day where I wasn't in total "control" for my eyes to be opened. I have such a long way to go in the process of growing up! I am just a spoiled child. Thankfully God is patient. Oh how I love Him.

Just wanted to share these thoughts that were going on in my head yesterday. It was quite a morning...and God has taught me lots through it.

Now on to "baby news"...You thought I'd forget didn't you? Well, apparently Vienna's daddy really wants her to fall in love with the game of basketball. When we come home and kids are out playing basketball (we have a court right outside our door), he explains what they are doing and pauses to let her watch. The other night, Vince was watching basketball highlights with her as she relaxed on his chest...she seemed to be enjoying herself thoroughly (I like laying on Vince's chest too but I have to share cuz I don't think we'd both fit!) I was able to catch the moment with a few snap shots...

This poor blog is pretty much just a "web space filler" at the moment...but I've been totally inspired by the movie "Julie & Julia" about blogging. I used to do it often and have let it slip away from me. So much going on, many relatives living far away...two very good reasons to start blogging about life again.

Today when I woke up I realized it was chilly outside because I immediately grabbed for more covers. I know I need to enjoy the cool weather, for all too soon it will be a mercilessly hot summer here in San Antonio and I will be dreaming of cool days with jackets and sweaters. I think the reason I'm so anxious for summer this year is because I have a baby! I want to take swimming AND I absolutely LOVE seeing her chubby arms & legs...when it's warm, I pull out the sundresses! My favorite :)

Vienna is our daily delight. Watching her learn is so precious. Her newest adventure is that of drinking water out of mommy & daddy's glasses. She does amazing at it...hardly any down her chin, most of it actually gets in her mouth! Very impressive...she must have her daddy's "smarts" :)

Vince & I are doing well. Life seems to ever have obstacles to face but we are grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow & our prayer is to become more like Christ through it all...easier said than done! haha. Waking up every morning with my best friend beside me is truly the most precious gift, fighting life's battles on his team has filled me with unspeakable joy. Knowing that each night, no matter how tired I am, I can curl up in his arms and hear the beating of his heart...a heart that beats for me...wow, love is truly amazing!

Yesterday marked 14 months since our marriage began. Wow, what a full 14 months! Celebrated with a Salmon dinner, & a chocolate cream pie for dessert(another inspiration I gained from watching Julie & Julia...I need to enjoy more cooking time in the kitchen) all the while hearing the giggles from our little angel...life is sweet :) You may laugh that we have such "random" holidays like a 14 month anniversary...well, let's just say I happened to have the time to make things a little special so I grabbed at the chance. Makes up for all the "real holidays" I haven't had time for! lol.

Long time no see...in fact, I couldn't even remember the password for our account! lol. Anyways, a little update...

We have 6 weeks left till baby comes. Of course, early would be great, but 6 weeks isn't all that far away, so I'm not complaining. Baby is kicking...loves to get my ribs. It's so fun to watch and feel it moving around. I feel like eating all the time and still crave chocolate and juice a lot :) Got some baby clothes and blankets washed up and folded so we will be ready for a girl or boy! Can't wait to find out. Vince takes such good care of me, lots of back rubs, kisses, smiles and sweet words about my appearance (though I feel big and unattractive).

Today it's been raining. We've needed the rain so badly! I love storms...it was fun waking up to dark skies and pouring rain on the rooftop. The weather has actually dropped a few degrees lately which has been a blessing. I can't wait till it's sweater time!

Vince's brother got married a couple weeks ago so we went up to Michigan for a long weekend. It was delightful meeting more of his family, walking the beach along Lake Michigan and dressing up for the "big day". It was a lovely wedding and we pray blessings up Steve and Sarah as they start their new life together.

Football season is under way! We made it to a game last weekend and look forward to all the ones ahead. GO ANTHONY & JONATHAN!

Hi Readers! (That is if there is anyone out there who still reads this neglected blog!)

I apologize for neglecting our blog. Between me being dreadfully sick with pregnancy for a couple months, moving to an apartment we have not hooked up internet to, and our computer breaking down...posting hasn't been all that easy! lol.

I am however going to say that we are doing well, loving life together...every minute! God has blessed us in so many ways...the number one blessing that is always on our mind is that we have each other! Waking up every morning next to your best friend, delighting in getting to know any and everything about that person...now that is an amazing life!

Here are some pics my brother Anthony took for us yesterday...all THREE of us! Yep, my belly is growing and we are getting so eager to meet our new little peanut!

Lots of Birthdays in the family recently! Katherine, Dad and Jonathan all in one week! Can't complain...got to play lots of games and eat lots of ice cream! We went out to Floresville for the first two birthdays and for Jonathan's, everyone came over to our place to surprise him!

We are so grateful for the lives of those we love! We enjoy seeing them grow in the Lord with each coming year and are blessed to be a part of celebrating during their special days of fun. Everyday we wish we could somehow live close to both our families...being miles apart from Vince's family has been difficult for us.

Happy Birthday Katherine, Dad and Jonathan! We love you.

Track Meet, Picnic, Park & Wonderful Weather

Last week we were able to attend out first track meet that Anthony and Jonathan did a fabulous job running in. It was fun to see them hustle with everything they had in them and see their friends all work as a team in every race...can't wait to see them at it again. Keep up the good work guys!

Saturday, we were out doing some errands when I got a call from my sister informing us that the family was coming into town to meet our sister in law Rebecca (who was visiting from Nashville) for a picnic at the park!

We enjoyed a delicious picnic dinner and shared many laughs as we watched the kids climb on everything...and chase each other. It was gorgeous weather on Saturday...and the pics turned out great! What a fun day :)

I apologize for the time gaps between posts. Lots has been going on...we've been out of town, moving or otherwise keeping up with daily life. Since our move, we have not yet set up Internet at our new apartment so the availability to post on the blog is limited. I am however going to try and catch you up on our happenings a bit in this post.

We've had the delight of getting to spent a couple relaxing Sundays with my family in Floresville, catching up, getting lots of hugs, playing some games and the kids even got Vince to jump on the trampoline with them...much to their delight! Thank you guys for your hospitality and amazing food!

We spent a couple weeks in Alabama babysitting my two cousins while my Aunt and Uncle took an anniversary trip to Mexico. Vince was busy learning how to do venetian plaster on various walls in the house. The final product was amazing! My brothers Brandon and Nathan were there for part of our stay and we enjoyed many laughs, good meals, fun fellowship and the fulfillment of a job well done :)

No sooner had we made it home to San Antonio then we had to get busy packing and wrapping things up at our apartment to move to another. We are now almost completely settled and enjoying the new place. Thanks to my dad, mom, and three of my siblings, Anthony, Jonathan and Kristalyn, we had help with all the heavy stuff and cleaning...what a blessing! Thank you guys!

Last but not least, I got to enjoy a relaxing "girls day out" with my mom and sisters and a friend from their church, Mary Ellen. We ate at the historic Guenther House and then went to a couple stores. The day together was in celebration of 21 amazing years of Katherine's life. Her birthday is coming up soon!

Honeymooners

Well, the "honeymoon" of being in love still continues despite getting back to "normal life" and all the pressures that come with it. However, we had a special wedding gift from dear loved ones in the form of a four day honeymoon after we were married. We stayed in a lovely cabin along a peaceful river. A chance to get away, enjoy each other and make some goofy memories :) We played lots and lots of games, went exploring, ate dinner outside as we watched the water roll by and curled up on the couch for some good movies :)

The time went by too quickly but every second was cherished.

New to the Blogging world...

Hello readers! We have a created a blog to keep you all informed as to the goings on of the newest addition to the Van Dyk family. We will try to keep you up to date on all our adventures and give you some pictures to aid you in the reading process.

We were married on January 24, 2009 at a small prayer chapel in San Antonio. The wedding was private, memorable and precious. We will be having some more "formal pictures" for you hopefully in the days ahead but for now we will post a few random snap shots.

Being married for over two weeks now has been a blast! We are getting to wake up each morning with our best friend at our side. God has been so good to us...we are growing in Him and learning everyday more about each other. We pray that our marriage will be a testimony for Christ and that He would be gracious to use us in any way He sees fit to further His kingdom work.
